Very interesting video living hastings all my life not long now to retireing looking up history Hastings thanks very interesting keep up Jim Gavin in Hastings.
Glad you enjoyed it, I am a bit of a history fan myself.
Thank you Jim Bob, I live below the Burton 'Pyramid' memorial shown in your vid , beside the church . I was one of the painting contractors that painted Marine court in its present state a few years ago and its a great building . I was taken by one of the porters working there down into the committee rooms in the basement and there are pictures and photos and heaps of history about the building being built at the time . Very interesting indeed . Keep up your good work and the vids. Here's one local who loves em !!!.
Thanks for that. I was at a loss what to film that day, and just fancied doing a bit of local history for a change.
Great video, interesting, The night club in Marine Court was first called the Witch Doctor and later became the Cobweb.
Hi Jim Bob, I really enjoyed watching your history walk i really think that is your forte, look forward to watching more in the future 🙂 Thankyou! 💝
Thankyou Paula. I have a few ideas for some more. 👍
Thank you for the little history of St-Leonards-on-sea
Glad you enjoyed it. I only made the video because I was a bit board that day. 😁
Thanks for this interesting video. I was born in Hastings but like most people we take our local surroundings for granted and don't bother much with the history, well I didn't at the time. I left Hastings and the UK in 1981 to settle in France. By the way, as well as the Cobweb, there was another club/disco called the Witch Doctor and I remember going there several times.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. The Witch Doctor name rings a bell with me. Bit before my time but I am sure my sister has mentioned it. Regards JB.
I'm from Hastings and learnt a lot from your very informative video thank you.
Me too, it was just a video that I decided to do at the last minute. Thanks for watching.
Loved it, Thank-you.
Thanks Del. 😁

The commentary is really interesting and I think shall watch the video several times to let everything sink in.
Thanks. I could always do the main Hastings town and the old town if people are interested.
Brilliant Job😂
Great video Jim-Bob.I live in St leonards and have learned alot from your upload.Great camera work and good commentary. You have a new subscriber 👍
Thanks Mickey, its not my normal stuff but I do like to mix things up on the channel sometimes.
There was a lideo in hastings i went with my friend jackie to a night club it was full of french people😅 there are nice shops
Never knew there was a tunnel between hotel and Masonic hall. In all the time I lived there I never visited those gardens. I remember snobbery associated with that area, certain folks would insist that you acknowledge their address was ‘Burtons St. Leonards’! Never thought about the reason Mercatoria was named as such, it was just where the playgroup was 🙄 Marine Court... Mike is refurbishing flats on the 8th floor at the moment... most of the residents used to be elderly, they had all their needs catered for so it was a very popular place to retire. It’s now a bit of a dumping ground used by the Council 😤 Thanks for that it was very interesting. M xx 😘
It is a very interesting area. 👍 xx
I got so many shout outs on this vid I'm a little embarrassed 😂🤣 I like your little history chats, very interesting, when lockdowns over I must visit Hastings area again, I used to go once a week to play the fruit machines with my mates back in the day!!. Really interesting Scout.
It would be funny if he was a distant relative. 😂 I did think of you when I was filming it. 😁👍
really interesting ive been around there a few times and always wondered about the nice architechture
Thanks for watching, its an interesting area of the town.
So fantastic to see that these great pieces of architecture are being preserved and used...so much of what I grew up knowing as a kid here in Nova Scotia has had to made way for more modern architecture...sad in a way...
As far as I know, the centre of the town has a preservation order on it. 👍
Beautiful house and info was excellent. Thx enjoyed this vid. Atb Malcolm 🏴
